In this Intertextuality research task I will be looking at how a range of media products in the category of 'Magazines' use intertextuality to appeal to a wide range of audiences. I will also be highlighting what makes these references to other media texts effective.
Intertextuality can be shown in a number of ways throughout this front cover. The first way it is shown is through the main cover line " the winner takes it all" this shows reference towards Abba music and they are using it to mock the people they are talking about. They also use the heads of politicians on top of the bodies of the band from "mamma mia" linking them again to the music to represent them as not serious due to their decisions. These all show intertextuality and it is used to mock the people and also bring interest to another type of audience.
This research has helped show me how I can use intertextuality in my NEA and the different ways I can do this. I would like to use intertextuality in my work through text in the cover lines and I will make it related to my target audience so that it is relevant.
