In this post I am going to be researching the media institution linked to my brief (Dennis publishing) , paying close attention to what type of company they are and the media products they produce. I will also look to see what the companies ethics are and how they are reflected in the products as this can give me ideas on how t link it into my own magazine and website. By doing this research it will help me produce a media product that reflects the style more effectively.
The name of the company I should be making my product for is called Dennis publishing. They were funded in 1974.The media types they produce are print and online media. It is an independent company it is also a parent company and is also apart of a conglomerate. The brands they are involved with are ; the big issue , the week , mincraft world , web user and many more.
This company makes money by publishing text from other companies and selling the magazines. They also are funded by investors. In 2016 Dennis publishing made £15 million in commerce revenue which was up 60% from 2015. They also make money from posting advertisements in the magazines this could cost around £2000 for one page in the week.
The ethos/mission statement for Dennis publishing is to be the most dynamic media company in the UK.They are dedicated to growing Britains best loved media brands ,restlessly innovating across different platforms to bring audiences new sources of inspiration, information and entertainment.
I hope to in my magazine include these values but providing information on topics and showing ways they can find more if they are inspired.
