Due to the pandemic I was not able to get audio for my website. Therefore I have made a script of what would have been my interview on my website.
This would be the interview:
Interviewer: How was your school life when you were younger? Did you feel you faced more challenges than other children?
Christian: I have mixed feelings about school. Half of me wants to say it was great I had my friends and I did achieve well. However it wasn't perfect, bullies exist in all schools and mine would always be to do with race. I would be the last to get picked for a team along with some of my class as they didn't want a team with us. We did get left out so I guess we did face more challenges but not by the teachers by the other students.
Interviewer: Would you say it has become less of an issue since you have got older? Would you say there is more equality?
Christian : Obviously historically there is more equality, but people have their opinions and not everyone keeps them to themselves. So yes and no, I have my friends and I never feel out of place but then obviously the Black lives matter movement happened this year. That brought a lot of light on the issue and i feel people do want change but there is also ways going to be the people who do not agree and the people who have a bad opinion just because of race.
Interviewer: What do you want to see change in the future?
Christian: Change is needed, anyone can see that. I'm not even sure where they can start cause opinions are hard to change. I guess we just have to pray that the next generation want equality and can all be on one side not two.
Interview: I also hope that the future ahead is better for you and everyone who has been in this position just because of race. Thank you for coming in today and talking to us, and to anyone listening you can read more about Christian Jones in next weeks issue.
